After missing a week of action, Israel’s national team’s biggest star, Deni Avdija, has returned to team training.

Position: SG, SF
Age: 21
Height: 200cm
Place of birth: Israel

Speaking about the Washington Wizards forward, the team’s head coach, Guy Goodes, provided the integration plan for the most important player on the roster.

“Deni needs to play but we’ll have to see how much he can actually play after being sick and having to sit at home for 4-5 days doing nothing,” Goodes commented. “The last thing we want is an injury, so we have to make sure he plays the right number of minutes, including training.”

“Hopefully by Thursday he’ll be playing more because our goal is to get him into the roster of players who are here. We had three games and he dominated the Auburn one which was a game that was missing in many important players,” explained the coach. “Our test will be how we can adapt Deni’s talent to the national team, which will be key for everyone going forward.”

Israel is scheduled to play a friendly against Romania today at 7:00 p.m. CET in Tel Aviv. The second meeting is scheduled to take place two days later, on August 18 at 7:30 p.m. CET at Menora Mivtachim Arena.
