Events in New Jersey this weekend
The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the famous 1973 court decision that granted Americans the constitutional right to abortion. The 6-3 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health released Friday ends five decades of federal reproductive rights and leaves it up to states to decide whether to make or keep abortion legal.
Protests and celebrations began to erupt almost immediately. Demonstrators were outside the steps of the Supreme Court building and rallies were planned in major cities and small towns alike.
At noon in Morristown, a small anti-abortion rally celebrated the decision. The National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice was holding a sit-in in Union Square, scheduled for 5 p.m.
