Potomac Grade School PE teacher John Lubinski is back with family-friendly PE games to play at home

It’s summer! There is no shortage of family activities to get moving and enjoy the sun!

Family bike rides, outdoor scavenger hunts and going to the park are just a few of the fun things you can do…but if you want to get more creative with your outdoor fun, we’ve got some ideas for you !

Home Run Derby Water Balloon
Equipment needed:
Enough water balloons for each player to have equal attempts
Wiffle ball bat

Directions:
Sneaky Throw to the Dough
Each hit counts as one point
Most points win

Sidewalk chalk hopscotch/wall
Equipment needed:
sidewalk chalk
Masking tape (for mural)

Wall instructions:
Masking tape on driveway or sidewalk
Laying random patterns and angles
Color all the spaces with chalks of different colors
Pull the tape when all the dots are filled

Home made horseshoes
Equipment needed:
2 paper towel tubes
2 paper plates per player PLUS 1 for each goal

Directions:
Cut a hole in the middle of 2 paper plates and place the paper towel tubes (goals) in it
Cut ALL THE MIDDLE of the remaining plates (horseshoes) and decorate as you wish
Try throwing the paper ring around the tube
1 point to hit the paper towel tube, 2 points to land the ring around the tube
Increase/Decrease distance to make it easier or harder
Most points win
