Krispy Kreme launches dog-friendly donuts for National Dog Day

Last week, Salt & Straw announced the launch of its Pup Cups, a pet-safe ice cream designed exclusively for dogs. Now Krispy Kreme is jumping on the trend just in time for National Dog Day, Delight reports.

The sweet dough ring maker celebrates the holidays with Doggie Donuts, which are made with all-natural ingredients and inspired by the chain’s already popular flavors: Original Glazed, Chocolate Cookie, Chocolate Chips, Chocolate Glazed, Chocolate Chips strawberry and chocolate. Cheesecake.

According to the outlet, the Doggie Donuts were made by Huds and Toke, an Australian pet treat company. And before you freak out about the “chocolate” flavors, these donut-shaped cookies are made with a totally Fido-friendly chocolate substitute called Carob.

“Our dogs have given us so much love and comfort in helping us over the past two years. They deserve this special treatment,” Dave Skena, brand general manager at Krispy Kreme, said in a statement. “On National Dog Day this Friday, treat your furry friend to something pawsome.”

Doggie Donuts will be available at Krispy Kreme starting Friday. You can pick up a box of six cookies throughout the weekend while supplies last.
