Massachusetts is the most women-friendly state in the nation – Fall River Reporter

With March being Women’s History Month and with women holding only about a quarter of the seats in Congress despite making up 51% of the population, personal finance website WalletHub has released its report on the best and the worst states for women in 2022.

Massachusetts was ranked the No. 1 state in the nation for women, with Rhode Island ranking 10th and Connecticut 11th.

To identify the most female-friendly states, WalletHub compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 25 key indicators. The dataset ranges from median earnings of working women to preventive health care for women to the rate of female homicides.

Massachusetts female friendliness (1=best, 25=average):
23rd – Median earnings of working women (adjusted for cost of living)
10th – Share of women in poverty
23rd – Share of businesses owned by women
8th – High School Graduation Rate for Females
30th – Share of women who voted in the 2020 presidential election
1st – Rate of uninsured women
6th – Female life expectancy at birth
3rd – Quality of Women’s Hospitals
1st – Preventive health care for women
3rd – Lowest female homicide rate
1st – Women’s health care and safety
3rd – Economic and social well-being of women

Oklahoma finished last in 51st place with the next 5 lowest rankings coming from southern states.

The report also says states that voted Democrat in the 2020 election were far more female-friendly than Republican states.
