MEW Launches Enkrypt, a Cross-Channel Web Extension for Polkadot
In collaboration with the Web3 Foundation and Parity Technologies, MyEtherWallet creates a user-friendly web extension to access Polkadot.
LOS ANGELES, August 3, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — MEOW (MyEtherWallet), the leading platform for accessing the best of the Ethereum ecosystem, today announced the launch of its cross-chain browser extension, Enkrypt, which will support transactions on Ethereum (ETH) ecosystems and Polkadot (DOT).
The web extension was built with support for the Web3 Foundation, a Swiss foundation that nurtures technology, enabling an Internet where users control their own data. Enkrypt supports MEW’s goal of creating transparent multi-chain access for crypto users, allowing users to integrate with Web3. Its users will, for the first time, have access to Polkadot, the shared protocol allowing blockchains to work together seamlessly at scale.
Web3 Foundation has awarded over 400 grants, driving innovation towards a decentralized and fair Internet, and helping to provide people with a more user-friendly, transparent and secure way to interact and innovate in the crypto space.
“Blockchain interoperability has been a priority for MEW users and is a critical step towards wider crypto adoption,” said Kosala Hemachandra, CEO and Founder of MEW. “Our Enkrypt extension aims to improve the overall user experience of interaction in the multi-chain ecosystem to allow users to access the best parts of Ethereum and Polkadot.”
The developers believe that the ongoing Beacon Chain merger for Ethereum will help facilitate the growth of Web3 by making it easier than ever to participate in blockchain operations. MEW’s Enkrypt extension recognizes the potential of the merger to create more excitement for interacting from Ethereum across other blockchains, including Polkadot (DOT).
At launch, MEW’s Enkrypt web extension will allow users to:
- Asset transactions in the Ethereum (ETH) and Polkadot (DOT) ecosystems
- Available on Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers
- Native integration with MEW’s browser and mobile wallet platforms.
David HawigWeb3 Foundation Technical Advisor “This integration will provide the Polkadot community with a robust and easy-to-use wallet solution, while also giving MEW’s existing user base access to Polkadot’s vibrant cross-chain ecosystem consisting of general-purpose computing platforms and application-specific blockchains.
At launch, Enkrypt by MEW will provide cross-chain access with the Polkadot ecosystem through integrations with Acala and Moonbeam parachains, as well as all of their accompanying canary networks. More parachains and EVM-enabled chains will be added in the coming weeks, with continued support for native tokens.
Derek Yofounder of Moonbeam, said, “DeFi and other Web3 applications are moving towards multi-chain architectures in search of new markets. But tools, infrastructure, and wallets largely continue to deliver end-user experiences one channel at a time. MEW integrates cross-chain awareness into its wallet, which is a critical requirement to support the growing number of protocol deployments and cross-chain integrated scenarios. Ultimately, wallets like Enkrypt will help developers deliver superior user experiences by streamlining workflows and hiding infrastructural complexity from end users.”
Bette Chenco-founder of Acala, said: “As Web3 and DeFi grow in adoption and seek to reach a mass market audience, MEW’s cross-chain and user-friendly web extension Enkrypt entering the Polkadot ecosystem is a very important addition for both developers As a DeFi and liquidity hub on Polkadot, we strive to enable as many crypto, consumer and enterprise users as possible to transact seamlessly on several parachains based on Polkadot, as well as external blockchains like Ethereum. Enkrypt only helps improve our users’ experience, but we hope it will enable new cross-chain application use cases and greater adoption of Web3 applications in general.”
As the original wallet for Ethereum, MEW has continued to be one of the leading platforms driving innovation and adoption of the various decentralized applications built on the Ethereum blockchain. MEW’s goal is to provide secure, private, and seamless access to Dapps, NFTs, staking services, and more on DeFi’s multi-chain map. For more details, visit: encrypt.com
MEW is a connection point for transactions in the Ethereum ecosystem, offering unprecedented access, a secure wallet, multifaceted integration possibilities and comprehensive training that allows anyone to quickly enjoy all the advantages that the crypto finance has to offer.
MEW simplifies interaction with the Ethereum ecosystem – it’s free, open-source, and secure. Founded in 2015, it is the original interface allowing users to maintain full control of their keys and assets at every point of interaction and does not hold, record or store any personal information. Today, MEW is committed to offering a suite of products that provide access and education to users who want to interact with blockchain on their own terms.
