Nippon Express launches eco-friendly delivery service in Venice with hydrogen powered boats

Nippon Express Italy launched an eco-friendly delivery service in Venice, Italy that uses hydrogen-powered boats.

The European Union has set itself the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% below 1990 levels by 2030 at the latest, and companies operating within the EU are accelerating their decarbonization efforts.

To achieve its long-term vision of becoming a “logistics company with a strong presence in the global market”, the Nippon Express Group has made the fight against climate change one of its material challenges and is working to reduce CO2 emissions in its operations as well as creating products and services that help its customers reduce their own CO2 emissions.

NX Italy has launched a last-mile delivery service that reduces CO2 emissions from trucking by using hydrogen-powered boats for deliveries primarily to luxury fashion boutiques.

These hydrogen boats are equipped with removable hydrogen generators and emit much less CO2 than petrol and diesel engines.

The Nippon Express Group says it will “continue to work actively” to create a sustainable society by striving to reduce the environmental impact of logistics and building a resource-efficient and recycling-oriented society.
