Peseiro invites Ozornwafor for the friendly match against Algeria

Valentin Ozornwafor was called up for Nigeria’s international friendly match against Algeria on September 27 in Oran, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

This was confirmed in a statement posted on the website of his French club Sochaux.

The 23-year-old, who is on loan for the season at Sochaux from Turkish club Galatasaray, was brought in to fill the void left by injured duo Semi Ajayi and Kenneth Omeruo, who were ruled out of the game.

“Valentine Ozornwafor has been called up to the Nigeria squad for the upcoming international break,” the statement read.

“The Sochaux defender is set to join his national team on September 19, with which he currently has three caps.”

Meanwhile, Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro will also be without quintet Victor Osimhen, Sadiq Umar, Jamilu Collins and Akinkunmi Amoo for the friendly match due to injuries.

According to reports, Peseiro was forced to invite several unselected players for the friendly match against Algeria due to injuries to their top stars.

Belgian duo Alhassan Yusuf and Raphael Onyedika are said to be on their squad list for the friendly match against Les Fennecs.

Both players have been in fine form for their respective teams Royal Antwerp and Club Brugge.

The former Porto manager is expected to announce his squad for the friendly this week.
