Many Salem hotels and hostels welcome guests traveling with pets. Please note that fees vary by location and pet-friendly rooms are subject to availability.
The Hamptons Inn allows up to 2 pets per room, dogs and cats only and no more than 75 lbs combined weight. An additional $75 pet fee applies per room per 1-5 night stay. Once your stay exceeds five nights, the pet rate per room increases to $125 per night.

The Hawthorne Hotel welcomes well-behaved pets (up to two per room) to join owners in their designated pet rooms on the sixth floor, where they can enjoy a dog room service menu and amenities specials. Additional charges of $50 per night will be applied to your room. Be sure to let the receptionist know if you’re traveling with a pet to ensure you’re confirmed in one of the pet-friendly rooms. Only service animals are permitted in the hotel restaurants and reception area. The Hawthorne Hotel is also conveniently located next to Salem Common Park, which is a great place to walk your four-legged friends through the large green space.
Pets are also welcome in the West House at Salem Innand some rooms of springboard inn where guests can take advantage of dog walking services at an additional cost.

The Salem Hotel and Merchant Inn here in Salem Massachusetts allows service animals to accompany you while you enjoy your stay in town.
Guests planning to camp in Salem can bring their pets to winter island park open from May 20 to November 1.
Attractions and tours
Well-behaved pets can join their humans on some of Salem’s walking tours, including Spellbound walking tours after dark, Black Cat Visits, Tours for tourists on tour, salem hauntsCity of Witches Walking Tours and Enchanted visits. Dogs can also learn about Salem’s history and get around town aboard the Salem Trolley and Mahi Cruises. We recommend that you call each travel organization and each attraction before em-BARK individually in advance on your trip to check with them and their pet policies.

The New England Dog Biscuit Co. is a pet paradise and a must for any pet lover visiting Salem, Massachusetts! There are a variety of treats and accessories available for purchase for your favorite furry friends. With grooming products, leashes, toys, treats and more for cats and dogs, your pets will leave with wagging tails and smiles on their faces.

Well-behaved pets are also welcome at select stores in town, such as Hive & Forgewhere the staff would love to see your dogs while you shop through their collection of local handicrafts.

Local restaurants with outdoor dining areas may allow pets to join their guests on patios. Flying Saucer Pizza Company, Gulu-Gulu Cafeand village tavern, all welcome pets in their patio dining areas. Village Tavern can also offer a puppy-friendly menu and beef-infused water. And, East Regiment Beer Company and Salem’s Retreat welcome dogs on their terraces.
If you’re looking for a central location for you and your pets, head to Rockafellas. You can enjoy a great meal and drink while your pet nibbles on dog treats or a puppy cup provided by the courteous and friendly staff at Rockafellas. If you’re lucky, your dog might even be featured in their weekly Patio Pooch social media campaign!

Some favorite dog walking spots in Salem include Derby Wharf, Forest River Park, Salem Common, Salem Willows, and Winter Island Park. Remember to follow local leash laws and pick up your pet’s tracks when walking. Be sure to bring your pet’s proper ID and proof of rabies vaccination when traveling, and follow posted regulations when walking along the beaches. Salem is a year-round animal-loving destination, but if you’re here in town this October, be sure to mark October 8 at 1 p.m. on your schedule for the annual How-O Pet Parade. -ween!
